Kodak has revived its Kodacolor brand for a new range of DTF film-to-fabric inks.

“We are pleased to announce the entry of Kodak into this market, giving more customers access to a high-quality, lower cost business option to create amazing, printed fabric projects,” he said. 

The Kodacolor direct-to-garment inks comprises two offerings: low viscosity Kodacolor EDTG series ink set for Epson DX5, DX7, 5113 and Xaar 1301 printheads in CMYKOG and white; and the Kodacolor RDTG series of high viscosity inks for Ricoh 2220 Gen4, Gen5, and Fujifilm Dimatix Starfire heads in CMYK and white.

In addition, the Kodacolor ERTR series of low viscosity inks is aimed at roll-to-roll applications and also works with Epson DX5, DX7, 5113 and Xaar 1301 printheads, with CMYK, plus LK, red, green, and violet. 

The overall system involves Kodacolor powder, film and inks and is suitable for printing onto a range of fabrics including polyester, nylon, rayon blends, cottons and natural fabrics. 

Kodak said the inks resulted in a “soft, durable natural-feeling product”.

“For fabric print shop owners wanting high-quality fabric prints without the expense of a full-fledged DTG fabric printing system or wanting to offer additional print projects on fabrics other than cotton to their customers, Kodak’s FTF ink system is the ideal solution,” Kodak stated. 

The inks are made at Kodak’s Rochester facility in the US. 

Kodacolor was the first colour negative camera film marketed by Kodak, and began life in 1942.
